What a week! We’re dealing with some hackers!
Hey! How have you been!? I know I haven’t been here for a while. Between a nasty cold, followed by flu and then allergies – all of which were preceded by a conference that shook me up as a writer, it’s been a long dry spell. Haven’t felt like I had much to say and even less to be entertaining about…. but last night … well, last night was one for the books!
Yesterday afternoon, I went to see my dentist about a sore tooth. I love going to my dentist. You might not believe this, but I laugh more there than almost anywhere else – and that’s BEFORE the nitrous oxide! The highlight of any week for me is cracking Dr. Lewis up so much he falls against the wall with laughter.
After a thorough exam, we decided I needed a root canal – and maybe a little something for the pain. I went to the pharmacy and got the prescription – one I have had before with no problems. I took the little oval pill about 7:45, figuring I would go to bed at 8. Then I lifted the top of the coffee table and leaned on the table top, chin in hands. Searching through Netflix, I found something short to watch; a program called Nailed it.
I’m sure you’ve seen those memes posted on FB or Pinterest that showed someone who tried to recreate an “its-easy-they-say” dessert with terrible results. (I can relate to this very much!) That’s the premise of this show — they have people who are definitely NOT professional bakers try to recreate a beautiful cake. I laughed until my sides hurt. I thought the hysterical antics were the funniest thing I’d seen in a long time. I watched two episodes and stumbled off to bed. During the night, I woke myself – and MSB – up several times giggling like a school kid. No particular reason. I don’t remember dreaming anything except once when I was waiting for some super star to look at the cake that I’d made for them.
Now that I think about it … I might have been giggling because I was so happy to be sleeping – something I don’t do well! After giggling all night and enjoying the show so much the night before, I decided to watch another episode today. I didn’t know whether to be grossed out or just sit and shake my head. The show is cute… in places. Not side holding funny by any means.
Whatever was in that pill, I’d like some more please. Even with the giggling, I slept better than I had in a long time and feel like my old self today! I need these pills and I need to share them with all my pals. I called both my dentist’s office and the pharmacist with the story, and while they both laughed, they also ignored my outstretched hand! I’ll keep you posted and promise I’ll share if I can talk them in to it … but don’t hold your breath!
